Pair of table lamps by Marianna von Allesch, circa 1950s

Beautiful set of cubist table lamps featuring dancing male and female forms, by Marianna von Allesch, USA, circa 1950s. Hand-formed plaster with an applied black paint finish. Each lamp uses a single standard-base three-way bulb. Von Allesch was a German-born artist who moved to the United States in the late 1920s and was known for her sculptures and particularly for her lamps. Her work is in the permanent collection at The Met. Overall 28-1/2" h x 14" in diameter; base is 17-1/2" h x 7-3/4" in diameter. Excellent condition; newly rewired with new nickel hardware and new linen shades; some minor wear to bases but overall they are in excellent condition with no major flaws or defects.
