Pair of James Mont carved-helix table lamps

Outstanding carved helix table lamps in bleached mahogany with gilt accents, gilt bases and caps, and original gilt shades and finials. Glass diffusers support the shades. Each lamp uses a three-way mogul bulb. All original, except for new wiring. Designed by James Mont and manufactured by Frederick Cooper of Chicago, circa 1950s. Published in "James Mont: The King Cole Penthouse" by Todd Merrill, 2007. Overall 42" h x 20" in diameter; 37-3/4" h to top of glass diffuser; shade 19" in diameter at the top x 20" in diameter at the bottom x 15" h. Excellent condition; new wiring; wood and gilt in excellent condition; patina to necks and socket covers; minor wear and age to original gilt shades; back side of one shade has been torn and repaired, as shown in the last photo.
